Bahamas hurricane destruction support

Dear USA Volleyball Members, Families and Friends,

Every year we face hurricane threats and pray that it steers clear of our loved ones. Unfortunately, our neighbors to the South East were heavily impacted by Hurricane Dorian and many families have nothing left.  With sustained winds of 185 mph, Dorian was the strongest hurricane on record to strike the Bahamas since records began in 1851.

Weather Underground meteorologist Jeff Masters said that "portions of (Dorian's) eyewall lashed Great Abaco and Grand Bahama islands with Category 5 winds for a total of 22 hours before the great hurricane finally weakened to Category 4 strength.

"In records going back over a century, there are no cases where an Atlantic Category 5 hurricane has impacted a land area for as long as Dorian battered the Bahamas," Masters said.

After speaking with the President of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association and the President of the Bahamas National Volleyball Federation, it is clear to us that our volleyball community needs our help. For those of us that have been through a hurricane before, we certainly understand what needs exist once the storm moves through the area.

We are reaching out to you, USA Volleyball members, families and friends, to help out your volleyball community at this time. Every cent that is donated will go directly to the Bahamas National Volleyball Federation.
