FLORIDA REGION SCORER REQUIREMENTS
Junior Certified Scorer
This certification level is for those junior players who enjoy keeping score and wish to enhance their skills and knowledge through additional training and be recognized while working. Once certified, they may work as a certified scorer when their team is working and if there is a junior certified second referee also working the match, the Florida region requirement for an adult to perform one of the work team duties is waived.
Requirements, Responsibilities and Privileges
To become certified as a NEW Junior Certified Scorer you must do the following:
1. Be a current member in good standing within Florida Region - USA Volleyball.
2. Complete the courses, clinics and exams for Junior scorer certification and training. Click here for instructions. The Course ID is FL17_105. All material contained in this course ID must be completed before working as a scorer at a sanctioned tournament.
3. Obtain four match evaluations and complete / turn in the evaluation form found on "WORK - Official's Tools" page of this website.
4. After qualification, if the Junior Certified Referee is working the match as R2, along with the Junior Certified Scorer, the Florida Region requirement to have and adult perform one of the work team duties for the match is waived. The rostered adult would still need to be courtside. The scorer and R2 must display proof of certification to the first referee for the match in order for the waiver to apply. This would include the card or patch they were given when they were certified. If the proof cannot be displayed courtside before the match begins, the requirement is not waived.
To be RE-CERTIFIED as a Junior Certified Scorer:
1. Annually complete the courses, clinics and exams for Junior scorer certification and training. Click here for instructions. Course catalog ID FL17_105. Clinic and quizzes in that module must be completed before working as a scorer at a sanctioned tournament.
Responsibilities and entitlements of a Junior Certified Scorer:
1. After certification, Junior Certified Scorers shall have the opportunity to keep score at the team’s officiating work assignments for sanctioned and other approved volleyball JUNIOR competitions.
To become certified as a Provisional Scorer you must do the following:
1. Be a current member in good standing within Florida Region - USA Volleyball.
2. Complete the courses, clinics and exams for indoor scorer certification and training. Click here for instructions. Course catalog ID is FL17_401. Clinics and exams must be completed by February 1 and before working as a scorer at a sanctioned tournament.
Responsibilities and entitlements of a Provisional scorer:
1. A Provisional scorer is authorized to keep score at any USA Volleyball-sanctioned competition, including junior competition within the Florida Region and in other Regions.
2. After one season a Provisional scorer may upgrade to Regional scorer upon completion of on-line Course ID FL17_402.
To become certified or re-certify as a Regional scorer you must do the following:
1. Be a current member in good standing within the Florida Region - USA Volleyball.
2. Complete the courses, clinics and exams for indoor scorer certification and training. Click here for instructions. Course catalog ID is FL17_402. Clinics and quizzes must be completed before working as a scorer at a sanctioned tournament
3. Demonstrate the ability to keep score during regular season tournaments.
Responsibilities and entitlements of a Regional scorer:
1. A Regional scorer is authorized to keep score at any USA Volleyball-sanctioned competition, including Junior Volleyball competition within the Region where certified, and in other Regions.
2. The Regional rating may be retained indefinitely provided all re-certification requirements are met.
To become a National Scorer you must do the following:
1. Be a current member in good standings within the Florida Region - USA Volleyball
2. Complete two seasons as a Regional Scorer
3. Notify the Officials Coordinator of your interest.
4. Volunteer as needed (ie, scorer monitor, keep score at Regionals).
