Welcome to the Florida Region Officials' News Page. The information provided here is to assist new and returning volleyball officials and coaches stay current with the rules and requirements necessary to officiate USA Volleyball events in the Florida Region. Please review the information provided in the Official's section of our website and contact either of the Official's Division contacts with any questions.
Annual Recertification Instructions - Overview
If you are interested in working, you need to make sure you have completed the steps listed here ASAP. Everything must be completed BEFORE you work any USAV sanctioned events.
1) Register for USAV. This will initiate your background screen application.
Note - if you are a PUR or CAN referee and you haven't given me your information yet, please visit this web page and follow instructions here http://www.floridavolleyball.org/officials-updates-for-non-usav-members.html
2) Complete SafeSport Training according to your region's instructions. If you are a PUR or CAN referee who has a certificate showing that you completed SafeSport, send me a copy via email. If it is dated AFTER November 7, 2017 I will forward the info to USAV and they will enter your info into Webpoint manually. If your certificate is from before 11/7/2017 you must take the new course online through Webpoint. (see instructions on web page indicated above)
3) Update your NOVA availability. If you want to work a Florida Region USAV-sanctioned event, you must show yourself as AVAILABLE in NOVA. NOTE: The new USAV Florida Sunshine Classic JNQ (Formerly Disney Qualifier) will be listed in AES. You must apply there for that event. Do NOT show availability in NOVA for that event.
4) Apply for the tournaments you want to work in SportWrench if applicable. NOVA tells us which weekends you are available to work. SportWrench tells us WHERE you prefer to work that weekend (as well as providing roommate preferences, on-court assigning and results reporting, etc.) The tournaments that will be utilizing SportWrench are the JVC events in Daytona and Tampa, as well as tournaments at OTVA and JJVA. You can now see the SportWrench designation in the tournament description. Be sure to apply to the appropriate event when you set up your availability in NOVA.

Note: Only Current USAV Members May Access Training Materials in the USAV Academy
- Log in to your Webpoint account.
- Click on Region Ref/Score clinics under the USA Volleyball Events > Region Clinics tab on the left side of the screen.
- Click on the +Participant Registration button to the right of the clinic you wish to take.
- Fill in and submit all your member information and hit submit.
- Confirm the information on the next screen and hit register.
- Click on the red button at the bottom of the screen: Log into USAV Academy to access your course materials
- At this point, you will leave Webpoint and go to USAV Academy to access your course(s).
- ALWAYS log in to the Academy through Webpoint by clicking on one of the red Login to USAV Academy buttons.
- If you leave the USAV Academy and come back later to finish courses, click on the red USAV Academy button to get back to your courses.
- Complete ALL modules listed in your Learning Activities folder.
Deadlines
For all referees it is recommended that you complete your online training before your first matches of the season. Testing must be completed by 11:59 pm February 15 each year if you are a PROVISIONAL, REGIONAL or Retired JN/National referee. Note: active retired JN/NATIONAL officials must take the REGIONAL recertification online training and test in order to officiate in the Florida Region.
Current JN/NATIONAL referees must comply with the requirements and deadlines established by the national office. For 2019-20, this means that the pre-seaons materials must be viewed by 11:59 pm January 5, 2020 and the annual rules test must be completed by 11:59 pm on March 1, 2020. In addition, the National clinic must be attended in person or online by March 1, 2020.

This will be verified, along with your membership and background screen status, before your next NOVA assignment. If you are not current in all three, you will be removed from the assignment.
* IF you are an official from another federation or country, I MUST receive a copy of your certificate of completion to officiate at this event.

- In the navigation menu, click on USAV Clinics and select USAV Coaching Clinics
- Select Core Center for SafeSport Training
- Complete registration
- To access coursework, click on the Log into USAV Academy button

The National Referee clinic is an in-depth clinic for USAV National and Junior National referees. All National level referees must attend the National referee clinic every season. A national-level referee may attend the online clinic. For other referees, it is a great add-on to the region clinic you attend either in person or on VolleyballRefTraining.com. The Developmental Referee clinic is a NEW clinic designed to assist training new referees and enhancing veteran non-National level referees skills. It is not required for regional or provisional recertification, but all who are interested in improving their officiating skills should consider attending. Register for the clinic of your choice, including the new online clinic at www.volleyballreftraining.com.
