Information regarding possible release scenarios:
18U Examples
Example 1: A 16 year old who has been playing, and qualified, on an 18's team is asked to play on one of their club’s 16's team for the qualification process for GJNC, this will be allowed at the region’s discretion.
*NOTE: A player playing at GJNC in Dallas can only play on one team in one division/age group.
Example 2: An 18's team qualified for Nationals and because of the reschedule has disbanded due to insufficient amount of players. Players that still wish to participate, and their club does not have another 18's team participating at 18's GJNC, can transfer clubs at the discretion of the region.
11U-17U Examples
This will be a case by case situation for the 11's – 17's, but USA Volleyball will be adopting the Club Transfer Rule from the Boys Championship Manual:
Applicable Rule: If a club disbands for the 2020 season and a player has no other opportunity to play within that same club, USA Volleyball may allow a club transfer with permission from the region.
*NOTE: This is only for the 2020 season.
Applicable Rule: If a club disbands and a team has already earned a bid to GJNC (including regional bids), a player will be allowed to transfer clubs if there are no other opportunities to participate within their same club with permission from the region.
Example: A 17's team won a bid at the Sunshine Classic, the club has since disbanded due to financial burdens of this year. A player from that 17's team wants to transfer to another club within their region to have a chance to participate, this transfer will be allowed at the region’s discretion.
*NOTE: There has to be no other opportunity for the player to play within the same club to request a transfer.
*As a reminder, a younger player can be added to a 18's roster as long as it is within the same club.
Example from the Girls Championship manual: A club has a team that has qualified for the 18 USA Division of the 18's GJNC, they may add a player from their club who plays on a younger team to play in the 18's GJNC even if the younger team has qualified for the GJNC.
