GENERAL INFORMATION
The TEAM FLORIDA WAVE is part of the
new Premier Volleyball League (PVL), a women's pro league sanctioned
by USA Volleyball. This is a grassroots based league that is
unique and has unlimited potential as teams come online across the
United States. Since USA Volleyball has 40 regions there could
be as many as 40 professional volleyball teams in the future.
The main difference between this pro
league and all others that have come and gone is that this league is
being built on a "bottom up" grassroots model as opposed to a "top
down" model. We will take our team to the fans and create role
models for the youth and junior athletes in the Florida Region.
COACHES & STAFF INFORMATION
|

Nick Cheronis
Head Coach |
TEAM FLORIDA
WAVE HEAD COACH
Nick Cheronis
has coached collegiate volleyball for 28 years.
He served as the Associate Head Coach at the
University of Florida for 18 of those years.
During his collegiate coaching career, Nick had
7 NCAA Final Four appearances and won 18 SEC
championships. He coached 25 AVCA
All-Americans, coached the USAV Jr. National
team, and served as a coach and Technical
Director for the Team Florida Indoor HP All-Star
Program. Nick is now a Master Coach with
PowerCore360.
When asked about
his thoughts on this new opportunity, Nick
Cheronis commented: "Team Florida Wave is
an exciting new opportunity for players to
continue their indoor playing careers after
their college careers are over. There have been
several attempts in the past to provide post
collegiate opportunities, but this is the first
that is starting at the grass roots level.
Having coached at Florida for 18 seasons, there
have been countless players who loved their
playing experience so much, that they weren't
ready to put the knee pads away just yet.
I see this as an opportunity for players who
have a true passion for the sport, and for
competition. Practices will be physically and
mentally challenging. Competitions will be used
to finalize a roster to compete for thousands of
dollars. This experience won't be for everyone.
But, if you are motivated to play and compete at
the highest possible level, then it could be for
you."
