2012 PROGRAM
INFORMATION
What is High Performance?
The Florida Region High Performance
program is basically an All-Star program that allows outstanding
youth and junior volleyball athletes to play for college coaches and
represent the Florida Region at an international volleyball
tournament called the USA Volleyball High Performance
Championships.
The progression for players to be
considered for a Florida Region HP team is as follows:
1. TRYOUT - All interested players must tryout (see Tryout
Information below)
2. DEVELOPMENT CAMP - 16-20 athletes per age division (Youth
& Select Girls Only)
3. TRAINING CAMP - 24-28 players per age division (All ages)
4. TRIP TO DES MOINES, IA - 12 players per team
Comments from Past Participants:
"This High
Performance event was a new experience for my daughter and I cannot
even begin to tell you how it has changed her life. She has played
for the past three years at the club level but never realized this
kind of play or atmosphere. It was a challenge that she and the
other girls accepted and appreciated. It has made her strive to be
better and has put a higher level of commitment in her reach."
S.S.
"I want to thank you
and all the coaches for their efforts in making the High Performance
Championships an outstanding experience. I was truly impressed
with the attention to details. All the little things the "Team Mom"
worries about were handled seamlessly (nutrition, fluids, laundry).
My son was well taken care of. I was left having nothing to do but
cheer, take pictures and knit! The coaches were both
motivating and encouraging despite some very challenging matches.
Their positive enthusiasm was instrumental in the athletes bonding
as a team...He will stand taller and be more confident in his
abilities both athletically and socially as a result of this
experience. For that we are grateful." P.M.

We are very blessed to be a part
of a phenomenal club in the Florida Region but if you ask our
daughter what her favorite volleyball experience is she will
tell you "HP Team Florida". She also indicated that there was
no need to attend camps next summer as she already gets the best
coaching from her HP coaches. She has been fortunate to
participate in the past three HP competitions and each year the
experience gets better. The friends and experiences she gains
each year continue to shape who she is as an individual. The
high expectations from Steve Bishop and the staff and coaches
are crucial in developing athletes who not only participate at
the highest level but lead by example off the court as well. We
consider it a privilege to participate! B.L.
"Mr. Phillips, I wanted to write and let you know
what a positive experience the Florida HP program was for our
daughter. She is a Select age player experiencing the high level of
competition for the first time. Steve and his staff did a tremendous
job coordinating the travel, food, coaches etc. for the delegation.
Riding the bus, being where they were supposed to be on time and
being responsible for their own schedule was a great life learning
lesson." S.B.
